You Have Definitely Watched This Legacy Speaker On YouTube

We know you’ve come across Ella Mielniczenko on YouTube before. As one of the founding members of BuzzFeed Video, she oversaw content creation across all video brands. This included Buzzfeed’s Snapchat channel, Buzzfeed Violet, Pero Like, a Latinx content brand, and Buzzfeed Creator’s Program. In 2018, she was also listed in ‘Forbes 30 under 30’.

Since then, she’s moved on to many other projects. And guess what? You can get to know her much better this year at Legacy 2021.

Recently, Ella joined Spinmaster, and is currently building an internal video department which will incorporate digital programming across multiple video platforms and social media.

Spinmaster is an international children’s entertainment company which creates toys and games for kids. Ella currently runs the social media strategy for many of Spinmaster brands, including Paw Patrol, DC Heroes, and Bakugan, along with her expert social strategy department.

THAT’S JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG

Aside from her current work at Spinmaster, most people (including us!) know Ella from her time at Buzzfeed. As an executive producer, she was heavily involved in the process of video creation both in front and behind the camera. The content Ella has starred in and produced encompasses multiple genres across more than 200 videos.

She also launched BuzzFeed Violet, which included BuzzFeed producers sharing their personal stories, trying different quizzes, and short, scripted, and funny videos like this one

Ella focused on content by women, for women. As someone who is queer and Latinx, her passion for inclusitivity and making her audience feel represented is evident in her work. Her fun personality makes her content all the more entertaining.

THE PROCESS OF CREATIVITY

Even as a young girl, Ella gravitated towards the creative arts: music, writing, and of course, making videos. She cultivated that creativity all the way to adulthood, and we want to know how she’s done it. Here’s a tidbit from her interview with The Logician:

“I really think that being creative is a lot like working out or taking care of your body. It’s about consistency and self-care. Much like staying in shape — you need to be active a little bit each day. Even if all you can do is go on a walk. Being creative is the same. To maintain creativity you need to be a little creative every day. It’s hard when your job and your creativity are mixed — you can become cynical or tired. But the only thing that has brought me back is pushing myself to continue to make things.”

Ella also talks about the two sides of creativity: the “ideating” and the process. In her projects, she tries to ensure the right people are brought together to bring their ideas to life. She tries to keep the right people in her life as well, and build great relationships with great people. Speaking of which, that’s exactly what we aspire to do at Legacy. We can’t wait for March 26, 2021, where you guys can hear from Ella herself 😉
